Dorothy M. Miller, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017.
She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Earl Thomas Mason, Sr. and Nora Turner Mason, also from Roanoke. With her husband and family, Dorothy traveled to and resided in numerous locations throughout the world. Following her husbands retirement, she and Chuck relocated back to Roanoke after living in Northern Virginia for almost twenty years. During her life, she enjoyed and excelled in table tennis and bowling, receiving several awards and trophies and, in addition, was an avid cyclist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven C. Miller, a daughter, Teresa Ann Miller, and two brothers, Zane S. Mason and Earl Thomas Mason, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles C. Miller; a son, Robert Miller and wife Angela; daughter, Laraine D. Miller; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Ruth Foster; and her loving dog, Mitzi. Her family, and many friends, will miss her loving guidance and generous spirit.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3808 Brandon Ave, SW in Roanoke, Va. 24018 (adjacent to Brandon Oaks). Chaplain Kathleen Miko will officiate. Reception to follow at Brandon Oaks auditorium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothys honor may be made to Brandon Oaks Auxiliary Fund 3804 Brandon Ave. Roanoke, VA 24018.
