Dorothy (Dot) Booher Lovern, 79, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015. Dot was born to the late Evans and Beulah Woolwine on February 23, 1936. She was a longtime member of Grace Assembly of God in Catawba where her church family was very dear to her heart. Next to being with her family she enjoyed cooking and baking for all those she loved because she knew it made them happy. She loved God, her husband, her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, the rest of her family, people in general, nature, her flowers, the water, and tubing. Family left to cherish her memory includes her husband, Kenneth Lovern; children, Sybil, Sandy, John, and Connie Sue; stepchildren, Kenneth, Jr., Tommy, and Fonda; her adored grandsons, Little Billy and Jason; sisters, Verda and Alice; brothers, Berman and Johnny; extended family members, the Lawrences, the Spradlins, the Boohers, and the Loverns; and a very special friend, Trevin Francisco. She had a special place in her heart for Billy Spradlin and Tim Lawrence. She was Aunt Dot to many loved nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. The great-grandbabies all knew her has G.G.; they were the light of her life. To so many she was simply Mamma Dot. She treated everyone she met like they were family, always giving a smile and a kind word in return. She created loving relationships that will never be forgotten. Preceding her in death was a husband, William Buddy Booher; and brother, Calvin. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Loraine Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Dots name to the Wounded Warrior Project, for she always included our troops in her daily prayers.
