Dorothy R. Terry Hale, 92, of Salem, Virginia passed away on Friday,
evening February 20, 2015 at Richfield Nursing Center, Salem, VA.
She was born on February 7, 1923, in Roanoke, a daughter of James and
Nancy Terry. She is predeceased by her parents and one brother,
James R. Terry. She is survived by one brother,
Lawrence E. Terry and his wife, Helen of Richmond, Va.
Dorothy lived most of her life in Roanoke where she was a homemaker for
her husband, James P. Hale, who is deceased, and their six children. She
was a member of Salem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Dorothy is survived by five children; three sons and two daughters: Rodney
J. Hale of Richmond, Virginia, Sidney E. Hale and his wife, Helen; Douglas
N. Hale; Bonnie H. Walker and her husband, Mike; and Sharon H. Doyle,
all of Salem Virginia. She is predeceased by a daughter, Carma H.
Reynolds , daughter-in-law Wanda Sue Hale and son-in-law Dennis C.
Doyle. Ten grandchildren include: Scot Hale of Richmond; Todd Hale and
his wife, Christine of Richmond; Kevin Walker and his wife, Susan of
Roanoke County, and Kara Walker of Roanoke County; Jason Walker an
his wife, Indra of Tullahoma, TN; Amy Hale Altice and her husband, Greg
of Salem, Brian Hale and his wife Niki of Vinton, and Doyle Trump of
Colonial Heights, VA; Bradley Reynolds and his wife Susan, of Michigan;
and Wesley Reynolds and his wife, Krissy of Roanoke. Other survivors include 14
great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at John M. Oakey Funeral Home in Salem
on Saturday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
prior to the service . Burial will be private.
