Dorothy Kent Cregger Aldridge Ayers, 89, of Salem, VA was reunited with her son, Michael Kent Aldridge, and her parents, Jennie Kent and Clark McKinley Cregger, in heaven on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Joining her in this reunion were her two husbands, Billie Aldridge Sr. and Wallace Ayers; brother Clark Cregger Jr.; grandson, Terry Aldridge; and daughter-in-law, Jeannie Aldridge. Dorothy was an accomplished award winning artist, author, and poet. She retired from the Eaton plant in Salem and was a member of United Steelworkers Union. She was baptized in the Salem Church of Christ. Survivors include sons, Billie Aldridge (Becky) of Henderson, KY, Daniel Aldridge (Colleen) of Lakewood, CO, Timothy Aldridge (Sandy) of Roanoke, and Brian Aldridge (Pam) of Montvale; daughter, Jenny Hall (James) of Salem; and sister, Genevieve Witt. She was a well-loved Granny to a multitude of grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 with a visitation one hour prior at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home.
