Dorothea Ruth Evans

On Thursday, December 22, 2022, our beautiful mother Dorothea R. Evans passed into Gods graces after a brief battle with respiratory and heart disease. A fighter and a warrior throughout life, she is now dancing with the angels in the sky. Dorothea worked as a cook, maid, manufacturer, and nursing assistant. She had a love for life and her animals, dog Moses and cat Gracie. She is proceeded in death by her mother Dorothy Whittam Zalnerovich; siblings, Judy Bolte Leshko, Bonnie Bolte Garcia, Edward, George and Kevin Bolte. Dorothea is survived by her husband, Scotty Ray Evans; sister, Barbara Whittam Mayer; children, Donna and Richard Linck, Sr, Joseph and Clara DeRogatis, Patrick Gannon and Tiffany Wallace; daughter, Margie DeRogatis and son Gerard DeRogatis; grandchildren, Richard Linck, Jr, Kathy Rouseau, Charles and wife Cheyenne Linck, Joseph G. DeRogatis, Savannah Braitsch, Salvatore, Joseph and Anthony DeRogatis, Tytus and Sylas Gannon, Heather Wallace, John Glennon and William Glennon; great grandchildren, Laila, Charlotte, and Asher Linck, Fiona and Camille Rouseau, and Layla Glennon. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, VA. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park located in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the John M.
