Doris Riley, 85, of Salem passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born on September 16, 1927 in Bloomfield, NJ, to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Raab) Tripp. Doris will be remembered as an unpretentious and straightforward woman, one who didn't require a whole lot to be happy. When she was suddenly widowed over 30 years ago, she found within herself a strength and independence that may have surprised even her. Doris loved reading, watching movies or tennis, listening to music, and a good Italian meal. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and as someone who enjoyed spending time with her children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 33 years, Henry Riley, her brother, Walter Tripp, and her step-granddaughter, Sara Slota. She is survived by sons, Chris Riley and wife, Merrie, and Bruce Riley; daughters, Michele Schnur and husband, Ken, and Denise Callahan and husband, Mike; sister, Betty Newton and husband, Jack; and grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Schnur, Caitlin Riley, Erik Riley, Ashley Callahan, and step-granddaughter, Kelly Slota. Per Mrs. Riley's request, all services will be private. A guestbook is available by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
