Doris Mae Moran, 71, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Kyle E. Owen and Iris Shenault Owen and had also resided in Hampton, VA prior to relocating back to the Salem area over 20 years ago. Doris was a long time member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She worked as a cafeteria worker for Hampton City School District in her earlier years and was later employed as a certified nursing assistant for many years prior to retiring from Brandon Oaks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Alan Moran, Sr. a son, John E. Moran, and a granddaughter, Rhonda Lynn Jacuzzi. She is survived by her loving children, son George Alan Moran, Jr., daughter Melissa Jacuzzi and her spouse Michael Emerson; three grandchildren, Justin D. Moran, Paul M. Emerson and Shannon Jacuzzi Correa; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Arianna Moran; her brother, Gary Owen; special friend and cousin Rene Cassell; two nieces; a nephew, and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Leonard Southern will officiate.
