It is with great sadness that the family of Doris D. Atkinson announces her passing at the age of 92. She was born on May 21, 1930, to the late William and Lilly Dawson. Doris is remembered for her cooking! She and Scott had the green thumbs of the family and grew beautiful gardens year after year! Her faith was her stronghold, she was very active in and with her church. In addition to her parents, she was greeted on the shores of heaven by her husband of sixty-four years, Scott E. Atkinson; and her five siblings.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie A Crabtree (Eddie Crabtree), Brenda Anders (Rodney Anders), Kenny Atkinson (Sherrie Atkinson); two grandchildren, Ashley Marshall (Tim Marshall) and Aaron Atkinson; a brother, Joe Dawson; numerous nieces, nephews, and granddogs.
A funeral service to worship the Lord and celebrate the life of Doris and Scott will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Valley Word Church, 1928 Loch Haven Dr., Roanoke, VA 24019, with her son-in-law, Pastor Eddie Crabtree officiating.
