Donald Harry Nixon

Don Nixon, 69, of Salem and formerly of Botetourt County, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Preceding him in death are parents, Harry and Rosetta Pat Nixon; aunt, Ava Sumner; and niece, Renee Manuel. Left to cherish his memories are wife, Peggy C. Nixon; children, Kimberly (Paul) Bratton, Robyn (Chris) Rader, and Charles Roy Heslep III; sister, Joyce (Carl) N. Manuel; grandchildren, Maegan Bratton, Morgan Bratton, and Hayley Rader; step-grandchildren, Nick Heslep and Matthew C. Heslep; nephew, Jeff Manuel; great-nephew, Blaine Manuel; great-niece, Ericah Manuel; and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Enon Baptist Church, 7971 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA, 24019, with Pastor Glenn Giles officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the CCU staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center and the Transplant team at UVA Hospital.
