Donald Wayne Jackson known to some as Boodie Jackson was born on Saturday, October 12, 1957 to Charles Jackson and the late Mildred Twine Jackson. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at his home. Donald attended G. W. Carver High School in Salem. He was employed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a grandson, Antonio Hicks; and an aunt, Dorothy Bradford.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Loretta Jackson; a son, Landon Williams (Desire); a daughter, Elizabeth Hicks (Tony) all of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Jackson (Gina) of Roanoke, VA, and Kenneth Jackson of Salem, VA; sister-in-law. Angela Ross (General) of Roanoke, VA; brothers-in-law, Bobby Gillespie (Monicka), Larry Gillespie of Roanoke, VA; seven nieces, Felicia, Edwina, Fantasia, Ashley H., Sasha, Brittany, and Ashley; nephews, Fred, Bobby, Jr., Clarence, Xavier, Antonio, Brandon, Timothy DaRay, Jermaine, Bernard (Dominique); and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Elliston Rt 1 Box 104 Elliston, VA 24087 with Pastor Clay Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA, as well as an hour prior to the service at the church.
