Don Rutherford Estes

Don Rutherford Estes, 75, of Roanoke went to be with the lord on May 25, 2024. Don was born on May 5th to Minor and Claudine Estes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne Estes. Don was a lover of Bluegrass/Old Time music. He enjoyed both listening to and playing his favorite songs. He played the fiddle and guitar for many years and has won many competitions because of his excellent musical skills. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing, and because of that he was always considered by his family to be an avid outdoorsman. Don earned his masters in psychology from Radford University. He later used his degree to pursue a career in mental health counseling. He served as a Licensed Professional Councilor for over thirty years before eventually seeking retirement. Those left here on earth to cherish his memory include his children, Celesteual Trigg (David), JR Lightstein (Carrie), and Trisha Thompson (Dayne); sister, Barbra Moore (Jerry); aunts Betty Jane Estes and Jacquline Rose; seven grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
