DeWitt Henry Miller, 84, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Born on December 8, 1927 to the late DeWitt and Flossie Miller, he was deeply connected to the Miller family, often camping and attending family reunions. Following high school, he went on to Virginia Tech and graduated in 1953 with an electrical engineering degree. He retired from General Electric after 38 years of service and left the legacy of a strong work ethic. DeWitt was a loving husband to his wife, Jane Ann, for 58 years, and shared that devotion with his children, Patty, Tim, and Steve. Although reserved, he felt deeply and often gave of himself to others in his community, a true trademark of his loyal friendship. He also expressed his faithfulness to St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Salem where he was a longtime member. A very talented man, he enjoyed singing, playing musical instruments, and woodworking. One of his greatest gifts was woodworking. His surviving family includes his wife, Jane Ann Miller; daughter, Patty Robinson and her husband, Rob, of Pittsburgh, PA; sons, Timothy S. Miller and wife, Clare Novak, of Richmond, VA and Stephen K. Miller of Greensboro, NC; granddaughters, Nina Robinson and husband, John Bland, of New York, NY, Jane Alexander of New York, NY, and Sarah Robinson of Washington, D.C; two sisters of Harrisonburg, VA; and one brother of Roanoke, VA.
