Dennis Michael Morgan

Dennis Michael Morgan, 59, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He proudly served in the Navy Reserves for 7 years, and later retired as an employee from the VA Medical Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and coached several sports teams as well. Above all, he enjoyed playing with his granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lewis and Mary Taylor Morgan; and son-in-law, Lewis Jayson Gaines. His surviving family includes his wife of 33 years, Robyn D. Morgan; daughter, Sara E. Gaines; granddaughter, Morgan E. Gaines; siblings, Ralph Morgan and wife, Martha, and Lora Meador and husband, John; mother-in-law, Ollie Frye; sister-in-law, Jenny Booze and husband, Bob; brother-in-law, Jack Frye and wife, B.J.; sister-in-law, Jessica Eastridge and husband, Larry; nieces, Megan Morgan, Kelsey Meador, Macey Booze, Sidney Booze, and Maggie Frye; many special and close friends; and a dog, Mackenzie. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10 a.m., also in the chapel, with Rev. Tom Maxwell officiating. A dove release ceremony will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
