Delores Ann "Dee" Shoaf Shrum, 91, of Roanoke, Va., and formerly of Grove City, Ohio, Hendersonville, N.C., Asheville, N.C., and Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.


Born Saturday, October 22, 1932, in Grove City, Ohio to the late B. Granville Shoaf and Gertrude Naomi Schaeffing Shoaf.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Pearl "Jon" Raymond Shrum, Jr.; siblings, Tina "Betty" Shoaf, Roberta Maughn (Garth), Robert Shoaf (Vera), and Connie Boyer (Robert) and her nephew, Jerry Baker; and son-in-law, Rev. Arnold Holgersen.


Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rebecca Hartman, and her husband, David Hartman of Roanoke, Va., and son, Thomas Shrum and his wife, Dr. Mary Hamill, of Sandy Hook, Conn.; grandchildren, Ryan Holgersen (Erica) of S.C., Brandon Holgersen (Jessica), of N.C., Kevin Hartman (Dawn), of Va., Timothy Hartman (Heather) of Va., Erin Tamucci (Fiancé, Mike Maldonado) of Conn., J.D. Tamucci of, Conn., Jonathan Shrum (Amelia) of Ohio, Matthew Shrum (Kaleigh) of Ohio, and David Shrum (Kate) of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Audrey Holgersen, Gwendalyn, Abigail, Rebekah, and Caroline Holgersen, Alexis and Tiffany Hartman, Alyssa Wells and Hudson Hartman, Evelyn and Alma Shrum, Elora and Ada Shrum, Lydia, Naomi, and James Shrum. Numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States also survive.


Dee graduated from Grove City High School in Grove City, Ohio in 1950 and went on to attend Bliss College and Franklin University, in Columbus, Ohio.


She married Pearl "Jon" Raymond Shrum, Jr on December 30, 1950. Sadly, he passed away 3 days shy of their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Dee worked as a secretary at the Federation Farm Bureau, South-Western City Schools, Finland Jr. High School, Brookpark Jr. High School, and Grove City High School. She worked the longest at the Central Office for Southwestern City Schools. Additionally, she served as the Executive Director of the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce.


She was a resident of Brandon Oaks Nursing Home and a former long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio, and presently a member of Christ Lutheran Church, located in Roanoke, Va.
