Deborah Elaine Hale, 55, of Salem, went to join her husband David and dance with the Angels on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
She was born in Richmond, a daughter of the late Harold W. Howard and Estelle Childress Howard and had been an area resident for over 30 years. She was employed for many years at Orvis, and enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, her garden and swimming pool, drag racing and Nascar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David W. Hale, Sr. who passed away August 15, 2012.
She is survived by two sons, David W. Hale, Jr., and Josh D. Hale and his fiance Lauren Kemp; a brother Thomas Howard and his wife Debbie; her dog Scooter, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Friday, June 21, 2013 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Roy Kanode will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM, Thursday (today) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 821 Salem Ave., SW Roanoke, VA 24016.
