Wood Deb Debra Ellen Cole Spradlin Wood of Salem, passed away on Friday December 7, 2012 Deb was born in Christiansburg on April 24, 1955. She graduated from Glenvar High School and was employed by Roanoke County Schools at Glenvar. In Addition to her mother Nadine Perdue Cox, she was preceded by her daughter, Brandi Spradlin and brother, Rollie Phillips Jr. Deb is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Garland Wood, son Brandon (Shelly) Spradlin, daughter Stacy (Nate) Wilgus; sister Regina (Kevin) Alley, brother Irvin Phillips, and sister-in-law Janet Phillips, nieces Charlene and Chasity; nephew Tyler; 11 grandchildren; Courtney, Gabrielle, Justin, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Hannah, Maison, Lilian, Drake, Logan, and Carter. Deb loved her home and traveling to east coast bed and breakfasts. She was a Longaberger consultant for 16 years. She made many loyal friends and customers. Deb loved scrap booking, card making, and taking rides in her VW Bug. Deb was a member, officer, sunday school teacher and ladies fellowship leader at Glenvar Baptist Church. She loved teaching the children and caring for people in need. Deb loved glitter but she sparkled all on her own. She will be sadly missed but will brighten heaven. She was a lady who truly made a difference in peoples lives. Many thanks to friends from Roanoke County, and Montgomery schools, and Glenvar, and Max Creek Baptist churches during her illness. Everyone who knew her will miss her smile and laughter. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 9, 2012 from 5-8 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, for a time of visitation. A celebration of Debs life will take place on Monday December 10, 2012 at 1pm in the chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Myron Powell officiating.
