Obituary

David Wagner, 76, of Salem, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2026.

Born Saturday, May 6, 1950, in Newark, NJ, to the late Audrey and Joseph Wagner.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Steven Wagner and Joseph Wagner.

David lived a life defined by strength of character and a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and lover of nature. Whether he was on the water, in the woods, or tending his garden, he found joy in the time he spent outdoors.

David was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and received several medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a dedicated member of the VFW, serving with Vinton Post 4522, and a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans. Above all, he was an outdoorsman, someone who loved the land, respected the traditions of the outdoors, and always seemed at home wherever nature called.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wagner; daughters, Tina Wagner (Dr. Brandon Briggs) and Danielle Harris (Jason); grandchildren, Connor, Kennedy, Bennett, and Flynn. David's legacy will be carried on in the stories, lessons, and memories he leaves behind.

Service information will be shared when it becomes available.
