David William Hale, Sr., 60, of Salem, went to dance with the Angels on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
He was born in Roanoke County, a son of the late James H. Hale, Sr. and Virginia Carroll Hale and had been an area resident all of his life. A mechanic by trade, and a true Bow Tie Chevy man, he enjoyed tinkering with different gadgets and it was well know that if David couldnt fix it, it couldnt be fixed. David was a caring and giving Christian man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping and racing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Hale, Jr., a sister, Frances Hale Keaton and his nephew, Little Jimmy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Debbie Howard Hale, two sons, David W, Hale, Jr. and Josh D. Hale; two sisters, Carolyn Hale and Linda Harrell; a brother Boyd Hale and his wife Deitra, many special nieces and nephews, and his two special little friends Scooter and Wienerschnitzel.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Davids honor may be made to the Salvation Army, 821 Salem Ave. SW, Roanoke, VA.
