David Forsythe Chester, 90, of Salem, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, November 15, 2010. He was a World War II Veteran having served as a Commander in the US Navy. Professionally, he was an Education Specialist for the U.S. Government. David also served as an Elder in The Presbyterian Church. His hobbies included golf, ballroom dancing, and jazz music. This devoted husband, father, and grandfather will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Theodore and Gilbert Chester. His surviving family includes his wife of 65 years, Jean Agnes Chester; sons, David S. Chester and wife, Dianne Reed, and Thomas F. Chester and wife, Martha; grandchildren, Andrew, Lydia, Benjamin, and Kathleen Chester; and brother, Kenneth Chester. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Salem Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Will Robinson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in Gresham Hall.
