Darla Mae Smith

Darla Mae Smith, 76 of Salem passed away on March 16, 2024. Darla was born on August 5, 1947, to the late Mayme & Vernon Linde in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, including her beloved grandmother, Hulda Sundquist. Darla married the love of her life, Charles 54 years ago in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Together they lived a life of adventure moving around the country and traveling. Family was very important to Darla, and she was always there for them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, auntie, and puppy mom with such a sweet gentle heart. Darla was proud to be of Swedish descent and her Minnesota prairie roots. In Darlas spare time, she enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, movies and shopping. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed making meals for those she loved. Darla worked as an insurance agent for State Farm for over twenty years before retiring. Those left here on earth include her husband, Charles Smith; daughters, Jennifer Hempel (Joe), and Pamela Smith; siblings, Terry Linde, Bonnie Severson (Vince), and Vicki McMahon (Bill); grandchildren, Katherine, and Jack Hempel; beloved dog, Molly; grand-dog, Crystal; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
