Danny Ray DeWease, 70, of Salem, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021.
He was born in Roanoke, a son of the late Howard and June Purdy DeWease and had been an area resident all his life. He was employed as a diesel mechanic with the Kroger Company for many years prior to retiring in 2012. Danny enjoyed camping and fishing, was an active member in the Roanoke and Salem Moose Lodges and was a member of First Christian Church in Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris DeWease and an infant son, Danny Ray, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Diana Thomas DeWease; two sons, Daniel Jay DeWease and Charlie Taylor and wife Kelly; two daughters, Dana Chittum and her husband Wayne, and Angela Brown; a brother, Robert DeWease; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Intrepid Hospice, Dannys nurses, and to Christa and Josh and the Roanoke Moose Lodge for their love, care and support.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM, Friday, July 16, 2021, at First Christian Church, Salem. Pastor Dan Netting will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM, at the church.
