Daniel Gray Johnson

Daniel Gray Johnson, 67, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1956, to Peggy Fitzgerald Johnson and the late Cecil Stafford Johnson, Jr. Dan was an avid Virginia Tech Hokie fan and enjoyed watching various sporting events. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lottie Bradley Fitzgerald and Herby Walton Fitzgerald, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Eleanor Eaton Johnson and Cecil Stafford Johnson, Sr. In addition to his mother, Danny as he was affectionately known is survived by his brothers, Michael Allen Johnson and wife, Connie, and Paul Eaton Johnson; one sister, Doris Johnson Douthett and husband, David; niece Devon Douthett Feckler and husband, Michael; nephews, Christopher Michael Johnson, Jeffrey Fitzgerald Johnson, Bryan Harris Johnson and wife, Helen. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem with Pastors Jesse Bass and Dr. Heath Rickmond officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
