Conrad Paul Skibinski

Conrad Paul Skibinski, 63, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Mr. Skibinski was born on July 18, 1948 to the late Emil J. Skibinski and Wanda K. Gralewska in Rochester, NY. In his senior year of high school, Mr. Skibinski was a scholarship recipient for a model car he designed and built. After graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1966, Mr. Skibinski attended Virginia Western Community College. In 1972, he graduated from Art Center College of Design in Oxnard, CA with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design. Mr. Skibinski was a talented artist and avid model plane pilot, and was employed at Valcom for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Skibinski is preceded in death by his uncle, Walter J. Gralewski. His surviving family includes two brothers, Don Skibinski and his wife Connie and their children, Shelley Skibinski, Megan Smith, and Rachel and Nathan Thomas and their children, Natalie and Virginia, and Jan Skibinski and his wife Jo Anne and their children Jon and Kay; and a special friend and neighbor, Dale Deweese. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 3pm at Saint Andrews Cemetery in Roanoke, VA. An online guestbook is available at www.johnmoakey.com.
