Cody Lee Roop, 22, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
He was born in Roanoke, a son of the late Ronald W. Roop and Robin DeHart Roop Levesy who survives. He graduated from J. R. Tucker High School in Richmond and was currently attending classes at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College with aspirations of becoming an attorney. Cody enjoyed spending his free time with friends, skateboarding and playing video games. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Delmas Roop and Tommy DeHart.
In addition to his mother Robin and her husband Al Levesy, he is survived by three sisters, Stephanie Dunahoo and her husband Mac, Jessica DeHart, Amelia Roop Wilson and her husband Ron; a brother, Mitchell Roop; paternal grandmother, Martha Roop; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Craig and her husband James; maternal great-grandmother, Christine Parr; his girlfriend, Kristina Sydnor; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and Shirley Turner, who was like a second mother to him.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. John Collins will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
