Cluster Ervin Simms, 93, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011.
He was born in Nettie, WV, a son of the late Charles and Stella Hurley Simms and had been an area resident since 1952. He retired as a Lead Shift Man at General Electric following over 21 years of service and was a member of Brambleton Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Simms Hippensteel and by two brothers, Erman and Carmen Simms.
He is survived by a son, Randall Simms; daughter, Macel Simms; a special grandson, Troy Simms; special nephew, L. Darnell Bruffey; four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2PM, Monday, November 21, 2011 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Tim Spear will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
