Clifton C. Wagner, 80, of Salem, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Roanoke to the late Beverly W. Wagner and Bessie Feazell Wagner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Amy Elizabeth Kaplinger and Ruth Nunley and husband, Joe; brothers, Bill Wagner and Dennis Wagner; and mother and father-in-law, Fred and Clara Jordan. Mr. Wagner will be remembered as an avid bowler, fisherman and world traveler; he thoroughly enjoyed VT Hokie sports as he often worked the fields during football season; he loved baseball and was once affiliated in the semi-professional leagues as a catcher prior to a sports injury; he was a member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church and was also a member of the Lions Club. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather as was exemplified during vacations at Myrtle Beach, S.C. with his loving family by his side. Family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 15 years, Shirley Beamer Wagner; daughter, Rebecca Sue Hall and husband, Ronnie; sons, Douglas Bullock, Mark Wagner and wife, Linda, Mike Beamer and wife, Dianna and Jeff Beamer and fianc, Sonya; granddaughters, Elizabeth Stalls and husband, Joshua, Lisa Bullock and Sarah Beamer; grandsons, Chad Beamer, Ben Beamer and Brandon Beamer; sisters, Bevoline Willis and husband Ronnie and Jackie Turman and husband, Darius, and a brother, Ronald Jordan and wife, Marilyn. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Mr. Wagner will be conducted on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leonard Southern officiating.
