Clifton Bass Lockridge, Jr., 78, of Salem, Va., has been called home to our Lord. Born on November 24, 1946, in Clifton Forge, Va. Clifton was a cherished son, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Ann Lockridge, to whom he was married for 53 wonderful years.

Clifton was the proud son of the late Clifton "Sonny" Lockridge, Sr., and Helen Lockridge. He was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving children, Perry Lockridge and wife, Jinnie, Dale Lockridge and wife, Michelle, his cherished granddaughter, Sierra Lockridge. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

A graduate of The Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton, Va. He completed his education in 1966. He made a significant mark during his time there, being a mentor to the younger students and serving as captain of the football team and later being inducted into the V.S.D.B. Hall of Fame in 1998. His achievements were a testament to his determination and leadership, traits that he carried throughout his life.

Clifton dedicated 26 years of his life to the United States Postal Service as a mail handler and processor, where he received numerous accolades for his hard work and commitment. He retired in 2012, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service that touched many lives.

A deeply spiritual man, Clifton was an active member of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. He also contributed significantly to his community through his involvement with the Roanoke Club for the deaf, where he was a familiar and friendly face. His kindness and dedication to supporting others were hallmarks of his character.

Clifton has a zest for life that was infectious. He enjoyed spending time outdoors – whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in nature. He had a passion for vintage cars and trains, and he loved to read and learn about the rich history of Virginia. Above all, he treasured the moments he spent socializing with family and friends, always with a smile and a joke to share.

He was known for his warm spirit, always smiling, and his ability to make those around him laugh. His lighthearted nature and his unwavering support for others made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.

We, as his family, express our heartfelt gratitude to all who were part of his life. To all who offered support, care, and friendship, thank you for being part of his journey. Your kindness and love meant the world to him and will be cherished by those he leaves behind.

Clifton Bass Lockridge, Jr., Dad, lived life fully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
