Claudine Joyce Peters

Claudine Brown Peters, 82, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning November 13, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, John Frederick Brown; mother Elizabeth Thomas Brown; brother Frederick (Poochie) Brown; and sisters Louise Boothe and Virginia Callahan. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Major Edgar Mack Peters, of Salem, VA; four sons, Edgar Michael Peters, his wife Mary and son Eric, William Frederick (Butch) Peters and his wife Heidi, David Glenn Peters, son Jordan and wife Connie, and Todd Lee Peters, wife Beth and children Lauren and Thomas. Claudine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, the matriarch that held the family together through good times and bad. She battled her infirmities with grace and dignity while maintaining her strong faith in God. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church home of 30 years, White Memorial UMC, Shawsville, VA. The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Claudines life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the funeral home chapel.
