Claude 'Lefty' Meade

Claude L. Lefty Meade, 81, of Salem, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. He was born in Russell County, a son of the late John Henry and Betsy Meade and had been an area resident for over 57 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Austin Meade, who died in 1997. He is survived by his son Benny Meade and his wife Ruth, a daughter, Pat Smith and her husband Bob; two grandsons, Benny Meade, Jr. and Robert Bryson; a granddaughter, Kimberly Burnley; great-granddaughter, Courtney Burnley, and two brothers and three sisters. A graveside service will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Thursday at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
