Clarice Duke Hartwell

Clarice Duke Hartwell, 87, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 9, 2016. She was a member of CommUNITY Church in Salem. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Grace Duke; her husband, Dewey W. Hartwell; sisters, Lorene Cregger, and Dolly Wood; and brothers, Homer Duke and Curtis Duke. Surviving are her sisters, Virginia Lazenby and Lillian Carter; sons, Eddie Hartwell and wife Gwen of Largo, FL, and Joey Hartwell of West Palm Beach, FL; daughters, Pat Simmons of Hardy, VA, Rose Bair and husband Gale of Salem, VA, Janice Hartwell and boyfriend James Robertson of Salem, VA, and Jannette Hartwell and boyfriend John Wadsworth of Salem, VA; grandchildren, Laura Barber, Spring Abney, Sarah Tyler, Corey Lunsford, Nicole Bardell, Amber Pendleton, Matthew Hartwell, and Kathy Markham; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Abney, Easton Abney, Sammi Tyler, Gavin Hartwell, Zachary Tyler, Hunter Tyler, Jackson Pendleton, Emily Bardell, Kim Barber, and Blake Bardell. The family wishes to expresses deep gratitude for the great care their mother received at Richfield Living. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service to honor Clarices life will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel, with Pastor Dan Carawan officiating.
