Clarice Davison Brown, much loved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the age of 84. She was born on March 31, 1927 in Lynchburg, VA, the only daughter of Henry H. Davison and Ruby Crosby Davison. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Roanoke College. She was a lifelong resident of Salem, VA and a member of Salem Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golf, puzzles of all types, was a voracious reader, and a lover of animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Brown, Jr. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. Brown III and Donna W. Brown of Chesterfield, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan B. and Robert W. Hollins of Roanoke; grandchildren, Cameron Hollins and wife, Sherri, Andrew Hollins and wife, Kristi, Alyssa Breissinger and husband, Mike, Katie Brown and fianc, Geoff Turner, Tyler Brown, and Collin Brown; great-grandsons, Lance and Landon Hollins; and a great-granddaughter on the way. We loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Will Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charles R. Brown Scholarship Fund at Roanoke College at 221 College Avenue in Salem, VA 24153.
