Clarence D. (CD) Shorter, 91, of Roanoke, reunited with his bride in his new heavenly home on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and was a diehard Redskin fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; his grandbabies certainly being the apple of his eye!
Preceding him in death includes his parents, George Harvey and Annie Luckado Shorter; his wife of 45 years, Regina C. Shorter; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving family includes his son, Melvin Shorter; two daughters, Charlene Davis (Michael) and Terrie Carter; brother, Charles Shorter; sister, Rosa Early and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Witt officiating. Interment will be conducted at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.Visitation
