Clara Mills Walters

Clara Walters, 99, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Mrs. Walters loved her church where she sang in the choir for many years, quilted every Wednesday, and loved making apple butter every Fall. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Walters, to whom she was married for 67 years; as well as all of her siblings. Clara is survived by her only son, Glenn Mills and wife, Alene and their children, Diane Dean (Paul), Jackie Harless (Tracie), Lisa Sowers (Jimmie), and Linda Basham, great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Lacy Basham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with Dr. John Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
