Clara Sue Hamblett, 88, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 10, 2011.
She was born in Giles County, a daughter of the late Ezra and Helen Kirk Holdaway and had been an area resident all of her life. She was employed for many years at Graham-White Manufacturing prior to retirement and was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and antiquing, but most enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow T. Hamblett and a son, Tommy Hamblett.
She is survived by a son, James Hamblett and his wife Joyce; daughter, Donna Lee and her husband Barry; a brother, Carl Holdaway and his wife Loretta, and by five grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Kelly and Logan Hamblett, Cynthia Hagan and her husband Ryan, and Michelle Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 7PM, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Ridgewood Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy E. Kanode will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Rd # 106 Roanoke, VA 24018 or to the Ridgewood Baptist Church, 703 Hemlock Rd. Roanoke, VA 24017.
