Cindy Lee Wheeler

Cindy Lee Wheeler, 56, of Roanoke, went to be with the angels in her new heavenly home on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born on September 26, 1958 in Roanoke, and graduated from William Byrd High School. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Lorraine Shilling Brown; grandfather, Emmett Shilling; and grandmother, Hazel King. Cindy was a people person, and was very selfless. She loved helping and giving to others. She enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved her sports cars. But above all, she loved her family, her daughters and grandson in particular! They were everything to her. Family left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Jamie Lee Wheeler, Jordin Lee Wheeler; father, Howard Brown; brothers, Howard Brown, Jr., David Routt and Ricky Routt; sister, Tiphanie Witt; grandson, Jaxson Lewis Hicks; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Donna Ashbery and Betty Ferguson; loving dog, Riley; and loving cat, Tigger. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Cindys life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Bret Layton officiating. Interment will follow at Williams Family Cemetery in Callaway. The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
