Charles Kevin Poff, 61, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2015. He was born on August 31, 1953 to the late Eldridge M. and Dorothy Peters Poff. Kevin enjoyed collecting coins and working on his cars, and he certainly was a very intelligent man. He loved his pets, but above all he will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, and a friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Mike, Robin, Lynn and Dreama. Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 34 years, Frances V. Poff; sisters, Carol Short and Debi Overstreet and husband, Sam; step-daughter, Penny Mayes and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Amanda and Anthony Spencer; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests for blood to be donated to a blood bank of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Salem Rescue Squad, as well as Lewis Gale Hospital and E.R. for the care shown during Kevins illness.
