Catherine Stiff Cambre, 52, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 after winning her battle to cancer and making her way home. She was born on February 26, 1960 in Roanoke to the late Frank Malcolm Stiff, Jr. and Wilma Willis Stiff. She was known for a strong work ethic as she was employed in the banking industry for the last 8 to 10 years dedicating most of that time to Suntrust Bank. She was a very positive and caring person, someone who loved the outdoors, and someone who was well known to be a good Jokester as she always appreciated a good laugh. She attended First Christian Church in Salem. Above all, she will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. Family surviving to cherish her memory includes her husband of 12 years, Patrick Lynn Cambre; sons, Justin Michael Ayers and wife, Becky, and Daniel Lee Ayers and wife, Leilani, and soon coming grandchild; brother, Frank Willis Stiff and wife, Jenny; niece, Dr. Abbie Miller and husband, Douglas; great-niece, Lila Miller; special friends, Judy Williams, Anita Smallwood, and Cindy Thompson, and numerous others; and loving dogs, Gollum and Bonnie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dan Netting officiating in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation at 60 East 56th Street, 8th floor in New York, NY 10022.
