Carson Davis Crouch, 78, of Salem, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was born in Bedford County, the son of the late Charlie W. and Dorothy Kirby Crouch and had been a Salem area resident for over 50 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was employed for many years as a forklift operator with the Kroger Co. prior to retiring in 1999. Carson was a faithful member of the former Berean Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, and in his earlier years, hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a very special friend, Ronald W. Cundiff. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Montgomery Crouch; two sons, Bobby Crouch and wife Margaret, Ronnie Crouch and wife Jennifer; two daughters, Sandra Crouch Newman and husband Jerry, Kelly Crouch Sutphin and husband Tim; six grandchildren, Haley Crouch, Megan Crouch, Carson Sutphin, Chandler Sutphin, Ryan Crouch and Kirsten Crouch, and his sister, Frances Jones. He is also survived by three exceptional and rare friends, Dr. Gene A. Godwin, Tommy Campbell and Harvey Journell. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Dr. Rev. Rudy Holland will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, this evening, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
