Carolyn Leigh Meador

Carolyn Leigh Dotson Meador, 74, of Blue Ridge, Virginia passed away peacefully Sunday, May 1, 2016. Mrs. Meador was the daughter of the late James and Nancy Dotson. She was the granddaughter of the late Terry and Gladys Starkey. She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Charles Meador; her daughters, Stephanie Carmichael, Robin Meador and Annemarie Meador; son in law, David Carmichael; grandchildren, Ashley-Kate Meador, Taylor Meador, Sarah Carmichael and Shannon Carmichael; brothers- in-law, Kenneth and Roger Meador; mother-in-law, Ruby Meador; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke. Pastor Daniel Colston will officiate. Carolyn was a live-long lover of books. She loved stories about sailing, hiking the Appalachian Trail, and cooking in foreign places. She was an avid crafter and was extremely creative and gifted. She learned how to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt and make stained glass windows. She was a passionate and driven woman whom was deeply caring.
