Carolyn Lemon Beach, 81, of Salem, Va., and formerly of Clifton Forge, Va., passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, after a long battle with COPD.
Carolyn has lived with her husband, Noel, for 10 years at Friendship Richfield Salem Campus. She had many friends at Richfield and enjoyed being in the puzzle room at Knollwood working puzzles and chatting with everyone.
Carolyn had many accomplishments in her life and could do just about anything she put her mind to. She loved to do yard work and could also be found painting or wallpapering a room in their home on any given day. She was a great cook and could put a hot meal on the table, even after a long day of yard work or painting! People loved to sit at her table and partake of her delicious food and the even better conversation.
She learned to sew early on and made everything from suit coats for Noel to prom dresses for her grands or square dance dresses and majorette costumes. She was known to knit socks for just about everyone and even cross-stitch quilts and pictures. From a very young age, she loved to sing. For many years, she participated in church choirs and community musicals, even encouraging those around her to join in and sing. She never minded practicing and could be heard singing at home until every note and line were done well.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Lynda B. Hayslett; and brother, Rick Lemon.
Her surviving family includes her husband, Noel P. Beach; daughter, Arlene B. Collins and her husband, John; granddaughters, Sarah E. Warren and her husband, Mark, Kristen H. Shedd and her husband, Nathan, and Emily L. Hayslett; grandson, Brandon P. Hayslett; great-grandchildren, Jack and Finley Warren; and sister, Ellie Tewksbury.
Thank you to the Friendship Richfield staff at Honeysuckle Cottage. Also thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for taking such good care of all of us.
The celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va., beginning with a visitation at 2 p.m. followed by a service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Bill Gilliland officiating. She will be laid to rest privately at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
She will be deeply missed, but remembered in the everyday things like planting a flower, making biscuits, or talking with a friend. Thank you for making our lives better and richer just by being you.
