Carl Frederick Muller

Carl Frederick Muller, 78, of Roanoke, VA went to be with his Savior and Lord on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born in Hackensack, N.J. on May 31, 1935 to the late Frederick L. Muller and Helen S. Muller. He graduated from Fair Lawn, N.J. High School, and entered the Air Force in 1953. Following four years of service in Goose Bay, Labrador, he enrolled in Houghton College (N.Y.), graduating in 1961. Using his pre-ministerial degree, he served three YMCAs over a period of 30 years helping to build a community Y that served 11 river and shoreline towns before retiring. He was married to Ruth Alberta Goranson for 48 years. Carl was active in the Branford Evangelical Free Church in Branford, CT serving in many different ways before moving to Virginia in 2007. He loved his children and grandchildren, spending much time with them, and using his woodworking talents making things for them to enjoy. Carl is survived by his wife, Ruth; and their two children, Todd Muller and Cristy Muller Blaakman; as well as 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Audrey Muller Trauner and Nancy Muller Patac; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Muller; and a stepmother, Florence H. Muller. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Roanoke at 3839 Shenandoah Avenue in Roanoke, VA 24017.
