Carl Ralph Furrow, 84, of Salem, VA passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at his home. He was born March 20, 1926 in Roanoke, VA a son of the late John and Gaines Walton Furrow. He was also preceded in death by brother, Johnny Furrow. Mr. Furrow was a Disabled WW II Army Veteran, a member of the House of Prayer in Roanoke and was a retired Nursing Assistant from the VA Medical Center in Salem. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Dunman Furrow; two daughters, Debra Furrow Whitt and husband, Charles and Tina Gail Hastings; two brothers, Edward Furrow and wife, Evelyn and Ira Sonny Furrow and wife, Lillian; sister, Winona Carr; four granddaughters, Darrah McDermott and husband, Ryan, Dana Grubbs and husband, Robert, Lisa Crumley and husband, Michael and Carla McComas and husband, Bobby; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and many special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Thursday, January 6, 2011 at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 pm Friday, January 7, 2011 at the House of Prayer, 2521 Portland Ave NW, Roanoke, VA with Rev. Gary Butcher officiating.
