Callie Ruth Stevens

Callie Ruth Stevens, 75, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. She was born in Callaway, a daughter of the late James H. and Lola P. Stevens and had been an area resident all of her life. She graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and Ferrum College, and was employed as a teachers aide at Greenvale Nursery and TAP Head Start for many years prior to retiring. Ruth was an active and faithful member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tanglewood Walking Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kyle Stevens, and brother-in-law, Pat Esperti. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Esperti, and Joe Ann Martin and her husband Dick; two nieces, Patti Esperti, and Terri Naff and her husband Abe; a nephew Steve Martin and his wife Becky; great niece and nephews, Chris Eanes, Jessi Naff and Casey Naff; and a great-great nephew, Caeden Eanes. A Celebration of Ruths Life will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 6, 2015 at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Gary Heaton will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boones Mill. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in her honor be made to Greene Memorial UMC 402 Second St. Roanoke, VA, 24011.
