Brenda Joyce Shaver

Brenda Joyce Beckner Shaver, 71 of Salem, went to her heavenly home on March 19, 2021. Brenda was preceded in death by her father James Beckner; mother, Ruby Beckner; brothers, James and Phillip Beckner; sisters, Carol Strouth and Wanda Hazen; and her beloved son, David Shaver Jr. Brenda is survived by her loving family; daughters, Kimberly Traxel and Melissa Fender and husband Jason Fender; daughter-in-law, Angela Shaver; sisters, Pam Sartin and Barbara Maxey; granddaughters, Ashley Shaver and partner, David Santoemma, Brittany ONeill and husband, Paul ONeill, Heather Harmon and husband, Desmond Harmon, Christina Caldwell and husband, Steven Caldwell, Tiffany Ward and husband, Matthew Ward, and Kyleigh Shaver; great-granddaughters, Emily ONeill and Nevaeh Taylor; great-grandson, Grayson Ward; many nieces and nephews and so many dear friends. Brenda was an employee at Roanoke City Schools for 35+ years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nursing staff of 10S at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and the doctors and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Center of Roanoke. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, beginning at 2:00 pm, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Virginia. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, in Roanoke. Family and friends may begin to gather two hours prior to the service. Service Details.
