Bobby Kiker

Bobby O. Kiker, 88, of Salem, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Friday, October 15, 1937, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Basil and Elsie Kiker.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James Kiker (Gloria); brothers, Wayne Kiker and Terry Kiker; and sisters, Betty Ann Baker and Joyce Ashley.

A dedicated leader in public education, Bobby served for many years as a principal, where his calm guidance, high standards, and genuine care for students and staff shaped countless lives.

Above all, Bobby loved his family. He cherished time at family gatherings and took pride in their accomplishments. His warmth, quiet affection, and attentive listening made home a place of comfort and laughter for those closest to him.

Bobby’s greatest joys were golf, football, and bridge. He loved early mornings on the golf course, afternoons cheering on his favorite teams, and long evenings at the bridge table with Diane and friends. His steady temperament and sharp mind made him a valued opponent and companion in all three pursuits.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Diane; daughter, Martha Wheeler; brother, Kenneth Kiker (Ellen); grandchildren, Isabella Hockley (Richard), Gabriella Kiker, Francesca Kiker, Eli Wheeler (Kristen), Katie Wheeler; and great-grandchild, Keaton Wheeler.

Visitation will be held at New Covenant Christian Church, located on 4807 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1-2 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating.
