Billy Ray Perdue, 76, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 21, 2011. He was a proud veteran having served in both the U.S. Air Force and the Naval Reserves. Professionally, he was retired from Rainbow Bread Company after 42 years. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed golfing at the Woodland Hills Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee and the Blue Hills Golf Club in Roanoke. Preceding him in death were his parents, Oma Luck and Nellie White Perdue; and several brothers and sisters. His surviving family includes his wife of 52 years, Libby Perdue; children, William Oma Perdue and wife, Carol, Elizabeth Ann Perdue, Donnie Ray Perdue, and Carolyn Perdue Smith and husband, Tony; siblings, Robert Perdue, Ruth Gearheart, Betty Lancaster, Nancy Davis, and Larry Perdue; grandchildren, Trenna Perdue, Tyler Perdue, Nikki Perdue, Zach Perdue, Whitney Smith, and Collin Perdue; and great-grandchildren, Aden, Allie, and Dakota. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Billys name to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road Suite 106 in Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
