Bill B. Humphreys

Bill B. Humphreys, 88, of Shawsville, VA passed away Friday, August 12, 2011. He was born June 29, 1923 in Monroe County, WV son of the late Drewie Kyle and Hallie Bell Humphreys. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Earnie Kyle Humphreys. Mr. Humphreys retired from the VA Hospital in Salem with 33 years of service. He served proudly in the Company H, 32nd Armored Regiment of the Army of the USA during WWII. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, family and his beloved Mountain Pass Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving daughter, Frances Yopp and husband, Eugene; two grandchildren, Joey Rhodes and Angie Phoenix and husband, Lynn; eight great-grandchildren, Heather, Alaina, Chloe, Mikayla, Kobe, Jenna, Jessi and Dakotah; brother, Jerry Humphreys and wife, Rose; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Gap Mills, WV. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Humphreys name to Good Samaritan Hospice.
