Beulah Spangler Carpenter, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 20, 2010. She was employed with Maid Bess Garment Factory for 48 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, Glenn Spangler and Ida French Spangler; sisters, Mabel Roope and Ila Perdue; and nieces, Barbara Weaver and Frankie Hall. Her surviving family includes nieces and nephews, Pat and J.P. Edwards, Carol and Lynwood Harrell, and James and Alice Roope; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gary and Brenda Edwards, Sheila Edwards, Tracey Journell, James A. Roope, and Justin Journell; and a special friend, Norris King. There will be no visitation. A graveside service, however, will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Butts Cemetery in Salem. The Rev. Tom Clay will officiate.
