Betty Joan Myers

Betty Joan Myers, 72, of Vinton, and formerly of Salem, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. She was born in Bluefield, WV and was the daughter of the late Guy and Margaret Louise Underwood. She was a devoted Christian who loved her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She was the #1 fan of her loving son, RadioRon, the voice of Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Bobby Underwood, and two other brothers, Jimmy and Sonny Underwood; and her sister, Margaret Goad. She is survived by her son, Ron Myers and Julie Wilburn, who was like a daughter to her; daughter, Cynthia Wright and husband Wallace; two grandchildren, Casey and Morgan Wright; two sisters, Helen Graham of Hollins, and Patty (PK) Ross of Maryland; a very dear friend and niece, Annette Yeatts; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10 AM in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son with the Reverends Buford and Avonelle Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
