Betty (Peg) Snyder Shaw Millington, 88, of Salem and formerly of North Hills, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2011. Peg graduated from Temple University with an RN degree, and later in life worked as a preschool teacher for many years. She loved the color purple and, in memory and in celebration of her life, her family will be wearing the color throughout the funeral services. Her surviving family includes her husband of 67 years, Daniel K. Millington; children, Diann Sander; Louise Ann Caudill and husband, Roger, and Daniel Millington and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Danielle and Garrett Caudill, Erik Sander, and Daniel, Joshua, Katie, and Jacob Millington; and great-grandchildren, Samantha and Luke Millington. A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Jane Morgan Harris Chapel at Richfield in Salem, VA with Chaplain Tom Clay officiating. On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, a gathering will take place from 12 to 12:30 p.m. in the White Marsh Memorial Park Chapel in Ambler, PA. A committal service will then begin at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Henrik Sonntag officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pegs name may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road Suite 106 in Roanoke, VA 24018; the American Heart Association at 4504 Starkey Road Suite 115 in Roanoke, VA 24018; or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 6931 Arlington Road 2nd Floor in Bethesda, MD 20814.
